Tehnički ne postoji nešto što se može smatrati FPS engineom. Čak i id Tech ima primjer da je u primjerice id Tech 5 engineu napravljen The Evil Within.
Naravno, mozes govno napraviti u bilo cemu i natjerat da bilo sto vrti sta god oces. Eto primjer ti je Evil Within koji je rasulo bio u id techu 5.
Frostbite je od pocetka i prvog Bad Companya bio dizajniran kao FPS engine. Naravno kad je EA vlasnik i imaju engine koji moze isporucit takvu grafiku na sto se pada najvise danas da ce sve zive studije bacit da rade u tom engineu makar nema ni najosnovnije stvari za neki drugi zanr:
DICE made first-person shooters like Battlefield, and the Frostbite engine was designed solely to develop those games. When BioWare first got its hands on Frostbite, the engine wasn’t capable of performing the basic functions you’d expect from a role-playing game, like managing party members or keeping track of a player’s inventory. BioWare’s coders had to build almost everything from scratch.
Sam developer iz CDPRa je rekao da je Red Engine napravljen iskljucivo za RPG i da recimo nije prikladan za racing igru.
Najbolji engineu su oni koje developeri rade iskljucivo za svoje potrebe i za igre koje one zele napraviti.
So where next for the Polish developer? Is the REDengine as versatile as middlewares such as Unreal Engine and CryEngine, and could the developer branch out into new genres?
"REDengine is technology meant for developing great RPGs, and it's good at that. It supports the creation of immersive, mature, non-linear stories; dynamic gameplay; realistic, vast game worlds and everything that makes The Witcher 2 one of the greatest RPGs I've ever played - in my personal opinion," says Tomek Wójcik.
"But to answer your question - it could be not adaptable enough to power a great racing game, for example, but it's definitely capable of creating great RPGs of any kind."
Zato top tier developeri uvijek rade svoj engine i takve igre su najcesce najbolje. U ovom slucaju DICE ima svoj FB engine i oni ga hands down najbolje koriste u biznisu jer je stvoren za igre kakve oni zele raditi.
