It's official: The new video game from Tony Hawk and Activision is called Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5, and it's coming to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One later this year.
Our first look at the new Tony Hawk's Pro Skater comes courtesy of the new issue of Game Informer, which confirms that Chicago-based studio Robomodo — the team behind Tony Hawk: Ride, Shred and Pro Skater HD — is handling development on the game.
According to Game Informer's write-up, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 represents "a return to the classic gameplay of the series' heyday" but also includes "power-ups and the ability to shoot projectiles for specific missions." The game reportedly includes solo offline as well as online cooperative and competitive play.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5, which will hit about 13 years after Pro Skater 4, will come to current-generation consoles first, with last-gen versions to follow.
Tony Hawk has been talking up the game for more than a year. The game's working title, which hinted at a return to form for the franchise, leaked last month.
