I get why PS1 discs won't work on PS4, but why won't PS2 discs let me play free versions of the PS2 Classics on the Playstation Store
The technology is there, Xbox One gives you digital versions of 360 games you play through backwards compatibility. That is a sacrifice Microsoft is willing to make to make their console look better than their competitor. Sony is unwilling to do the same. Game journalists and the consumer didn't call Sony out on this.
Why won't Sony just let me play digital PS1 Classics?
Sony and SquareEnix are selling FF7 (PS1/PC) version as a $16 game because of trophies on the PS4. Sony also plans on selling you "Remaster" (not remakes) versions of the Crash Bandicoot games. Selling PS1 games as digital only, instead of supporting discs like PS2/PS3 will make people angry. Sony charged people a fair price for PS2 Classics on the PS3, now they raised the price on PS4 to $15 to charge again.
Is there anything we can do about this?
Not buying Remasters would help out a lot.
