"I think his appeal is a combination of these three things.
1. Already famous. Once you start that, it’s easy to continue. People are more willing to get invested in someone others are already invested in. It feels more normal and acceptable.
2. Genuineness. He doesn’t seem like he puts on a character. He’s the peak of what makes YouTube special: ordinary people just being themselves and doing what they love, not what others demand they do or just picking from projects others made.
3. Youthfulness. I’m 23, almost 24, and I watch his stuff. I can safely say his appeal to me and other adults who watch him is that he helps us embrace our inner child. I get to laugh at and enjoy stuff that I normally don’t and am not supposed to since I’m an adult now. He’s one of us, and in fact is older than me, so seeing him genuinely enjoy himself in these ways makes me and other adults feel young again"
