-Dishonored 2 EDGE details
EDGE 298 issue came out few weeks ago with some new info about Dishonored 2. However, given the fact no one made a thread about it, I figured I might do the job.
Details:
- The basic version of Domino only allows you to link two people at the time and has a relatively long transmission time, although it can be reduced with upgrades,
- Domino's damage is 1. For instance, if you link a guard and an Overseer and shoot the guard in the head, it will kill the guard but not the Overseer as his mask will block the damage
- Mantling is more acrobatic
- A new combat move called Focused Strike allows you to do a sword charge attack against an enemy to stagger him or to penetrate through certain defenses
- Clockwork Soldiers can be dismembered limb by limb. They can also be rewired to be friendly and fight by your side
- Karnaca is explorable outside of missions, allowing players to delve deeper into the city's culture and history
- At some point of development, Arkane considered having both Emily and Corvo share each other's power sets (Emily having Corvo's power set and vice versa) but eventually decided to have the powers of both characters differentiate from each other
- Arkane went through a painstaking process making sure the level design accommodates Flesh and Steel mode (AKA no powers mode)
- There's a mission called The Edge Of The World with a big, sprawling area to explore before you get to the actual mission
- The specifics on how bone charms work are now a bit clearer:
Regular bone charms often have one or two traits that mildly improve skills and abilities
Breaking charms into traits requires a specific enhancement.
Upgrading the crafting ability enough allows them to be combined into charms with up to four traits. Whether this means higher levels allow more and more traits on a single charm, or that one upgrade is required for bone charm breakdown and another for recombination is yet to be known
Stacking copies of the same trait requires another upgrade
You may attempt to make a powerful bone charm before you're capable to do so (presumably one with stacked traits), but you run the risk of creating a corrupted bone charm (bone charms that give you a boon but also a penalty)
Quoting Harvey Smith on black bone charms: "We've also added things called black bone charms, which you can't actually make. They're historical artifacts that you can find periodically - there's a list and its semi-randomised. Black bone charms were made by powerful sorcerers in the past and they're very precious in the game. You can fill up your charm slots with regular ones, corrupted ones, black ones, or any combination thereof''
